Upcoming and ongoing enhancements
There is a $25 million dollar renovation underway that will be completed in 2013. Our parent company, KSL Resorts, has a great deal of experience with renovating large resort properties while incurring little or no impact on the guest experience. The areas below are scheduled to be completed prior to our 100th birthday in July.
The Great Hall/Sunset Terrace
There will be a new guest arrival experience when entering The Great Hall that includes: more efficient check-in, entertainment that creates an atmosphere of relaxed refinement, new lighting that will accent the architectural details, including the granite masonry, and the Arts & Crafts furnishings. The livingroom-like feeling will be a perfect location to lounge with a book or linger over a signature cocktail and conversation. New terraces will be added below Sunset Terrace and provide additional seating for cocktails, light fare and sensational sunsets over the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Meeting & Event Space
Major enhancements will be made to existing meeting space to provide the highest level of high-technology and furnishings from the market-leading manufacturer of working tables and chairs designed exclusively for the group business. Space will be designed to meet the needs of the most demanding and innovative meeting planners and to surpass the expectations of the most discerning clients. Event planners will be afforded more flexible space to design anything from a Southern barbecue for fifty to a lavish black tie wedding for 300.
Vanderbilt Guest Rooms
The 166 guest rooms in the Vanderbilt Wing will be renovated, which will complete all guest room renovations.
New Dining and Bar Outlets
EDISON is an innovative bar and restaurant, focusing on local craft beer, hand-crafted cocktails, and casual Southern comfort food with an Asheville flair. Opening in July, EDISON brings together the food culture and local flavors of downtown with expansive indoor and outdoor seating and spectacular views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. EDISON will serve NC craft beers, small batch bourbons, hand-crafted cocktails, and regionally inspired food in a contemporary, fun, and artistic setting.
New Retail Outlets
A new retail concept will be developed to expand current offerings and provide a free-flowing design which will improve upon the shopping experience. Chic and trendy fashions, sports attire and equipment and a “grab & go marketplace” will be among the featured outlets.
