Toothpaste Recall
The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa provides Gilchrist & Soames® brand products, including toothpaste, as amenities to guests in certain rooms or if requested by a guest. As has been widely reported in the news, Gilchrist & Soames issued a public recall of certain of its Chinese-manufactured toothpaste products on August 6th. In early June 2007, Gilchrist & Soames notified The Grove Park Inn that there was a possibility that its toothpaste could be among those types contaminated and sold under other brands, as warned by the FDA in a consumer alert dated June 1, 2007. As a precaution, on June 8th, The Grove Park Inn stopped distributing Gilchrist & Soames toothpastes to guests and destroyed existing inventory of the toothpaste. Independent testing by Gilchrist & Soames later confirmed the presence of a contaminate in some of its toothpaste manufactured in China, prompting the August recall announcement.

While neither The Grove Park Inn, nor Gilchrist & Soames is able to determine if any of the contaminated toothpaste was shipped to The Grove Park Inn or distributed to its guests, The Grove Park Inn is encouraging any guest with a 0.65oz/18 ml container of Gilchrist & Soames toothpaste obtained from The Grove Park Inn prior to June 8th to dispose of it in a safe manner. If you have stayed at The Grove Park Inn and used Gilchrist & Soames toothpaste after June 8th, the toothpaste you received, as well as all other Gilchrist & Soames products distributed to guests, was not subject to a recall.
